The C3. This was a very stylish year for the Vette. The new Sharks were shaped so that it made them look like they were in motion, even while they were not moving. The Stingrays lasted until 1976, when they stopped making them, but the sharks continued on. 1977 was the end of the straight drop down window. On May 28, 1978, Corvette paced the Indy 500. To show that the 78 Vette was a Indy Pace car, GM had replicas created. They were silver over black. GM also had a two tone silver Vette made in 78 to celebrate Corvette's 25th Anniversary. The Corvette continued production until 1982. In 1982, GM sold a special, "Collector's Edition". It was beige and bronze. It also came with special collector edition emblems, interior, and wheels.
